TIME FOR A DETOX: ELIMINATING HARMFUL CHEMICALS FROM THE CHAIN

We’re currently in the middle of a detox here at HAVEP. Why? Because we are working to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals throughout the entire clothing chain. In favour of a more environmentally-friendly approach and better health and safety of all those involved.

GO FOR POSITIVE IMPACT

Our detox programme is the next logical step in our overarching sustainability ambitions. Our aim is to make a positive impact wherever we can. Positive for our customers, our employees, our surroundings, our partners and the generations that will follow our own. That is why we choose sustainable solutions; such as reusing off-cuts from our production process as stuffing for punching bags or for our tough-as-nails Attitude jeans, or introducing a liveable wage in our workshops. And as of now, choosing textiles that are produced without the use of harmful chemicals.

TRANSPARENT PRODUCTION CHAIN THANKS TO BLUESIGN

But how do we know for sure that no harmful chemicals have been used during the production process? That guarantee is given by the BLUESIGN label, a label managed by Bluesign Technologies that is recognised worldwide. The BLUESIGN label covers multiple facets of the production process: not just the use of harmful chemicals but also energy and water consumption and certain social criteria based on the ILO conventions for textile processing. And to guarantee compliance, the independent organisation SGS conducts regular (unscheduled) audits. The BLUESIGN label is not the only eco label aimed at the textile sector. At HAVEP, however, we have decided to work exclusively with globally recognised systems such as Cradle to Cradle, BLUESIGN and Oekotex.

HAVEP X CARRINGTON TEXTILES

Our textile partner, Carrington Textiles is not just a global player in the market for workwear cloth but has also been accredited by BLUESIGN since 2016. 90% of the clothing items in our new Shift collections are made with BLUESIGN-certified fabrics from Carrington Textiles. Which means the resultant workwear is not just good looking but also good for the environment. And at HAVEP, we have plans to use textiles with the BLUESIGN label in many of our other existing collections as well. So we can expand our positive impact even further.
